Daily Amtrak Service Returns to the Hi-Line

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – For the first time since October, daily Amtrak service has returned to the Hi-Line.

The Empire Builder, which travels between Chicago and the pacific northwest, resumed daily service on Monday after over six months of tri-weekly service when Amtrak did not receive emergency funding they requested from Congress.

The restoration of daily service and reinstatement of furloughed employees was added into the American Rescue Plan by Montana Senator Jon Tester. The bill was signed into law in March.

The Empire Builder includes 12 stations in northern Montana. In 2019, over 120,000 passengers either boarded or disembarked in Montana.
