Dangerously Cold Weather to Return to Hi-Line

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – After a few days of warmer temperatures, dangerously cold weather is making its return to the Hi-Line.

The National Weather Service says an arctic cold front is moving into the region, and the temperature is expected to remain below zero for several days this week, with a wind chill warning in effect until 3 PM on Thursday.

Hill County Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Amanda Frickel says people needing to travel over the next few days should take precautions.

“I would suggest just making sure you have some sort of kit, or at least a blanket and some extra water, maybe a flashlight. Preparing things so if there is an accident or you get flat tire or there is something catastrophic happens on the road, you’re gonna be there a little bit longer this time of year.”

In addition to the cold temperatures, light snow and gusty winds are expected over the next several days, and frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
