A private entity has completed many environmentally beneficial projects in the Northern Montana area. Ducks Unlimited is a non profit organization that focuses on water conservation throughout north America.
Jim Bachini a representative for the Havre chapter ducks unlimited explains some of the Ducks Unlimited projects in Northern Montana.
“They have a lot of projects that they do in Blaine County, Hill County, and Phillips County, which would be Malta area. The Malta area has had 94 projects done and it cost $7.5 million and change. Hill County has had six projects done for $613,000, and Blaine County has had 28 projects which is your Chinook area, $630,000 and change. So, they spend money here on projects.”-Jim Bachini
Jim continues to give examples of the types of northern Montana water conservation projects that Ducks Unlimited completed.
“Building of stock ponds, head gates, spillways, those goose nesting stands that you see on ponds are funded with that.” -Jim Bachini
Additionally, Jim explains why water conservation is important today.
“We’re all going through a drought and the more that we can do, or everyone can do to conserve water and or capture it, it’s just going to be beneficial for everyone.” -Jim Bachini
