RED LODGE, Mont. (NMB) – Growth of the Robertson Draw Fire burning south of Red Lodge has slowed as containment has increased. The fire was at 29,600 acres in size as of Wednesday morning, with 53 percent containment, mostly on the eastern half of the fire line.
Firefighters are continuing to utilize both direct and indirect attack to keep the fire east of the Beartooth Highway, and south of the towns of Bearcreek and Red Lodge. All campgrounds, trails, and facilities on National Forest lands in the area are closed.
The fire, which has destroyed at least eight major structures and 13 secondary structures, is now believed to have been human-caused.
The fire was initially reported at 3:30 PM on June 13th.
382 personnel are at the scene, as well as resources such as helicopters and air tankers.
