First 2019 Legislative Call-In Meeting Held Thursday at NMC

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Three local lawmakers were able to attend the first weekly Legislative Call-In session of 2019 with area residents at the Northern Montana Hospital on Thursday.

Havre Representative Jacob Bachmeier, Senator Russel Tempel, and Fort Benton Representative Josh Kassmier talked with about ten people via video chat about some of the bills they are working on and some concerns people had.

Director for the Hill County Health Department Kim Larson asked about raw milk and immunization bills, as well as vaping being added to the Clean Air Act.

Hill County Commissioners Mike Wendland and Diane McLean also asked about some bills they were concerned with, like Hannah’s Act.

The three legislators also said they don’t support sending $8 million to help build the border wall and they believe that they have more important state issues to deal with.

Bachmeier also said that future meetings will be held at noon on Fridays to allow more legislators to participate.
