FORT BENTON, Mont. (NMB) – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Colorado Mesa University are inviting the public to participate in focus outreach meetings this week.
These meetings are for members of the public who recreate on BLM managed lands in the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.
The meetings will help officials further understand experiences and benefits associated with recreation in the area.
The BLM is updating the Comprehensive River Management Plan for the Upper Missouri, and information gathered in the focus groups will help the BLM determine future management objectives.
Through an interactive group setting, participants will be encouraged to speak (and write) freely and answer questions, such as:
- What are the qualities of this place that make it a special place for recreation?
- What are your interests and expectations when you recreate in the area?
- What are your management priorities for the area?
The meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Tim Casey, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Natural Resource Center at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. It will last approximately 90 minutes. Please join us and contribute to this important conversation.
