Former MSU-N Skylight Lands Collegiate Assistant Coaching Gig

The MSU-Northern Skylights basketball team will lose five seniors from 2023-24, but we now know where yet another one of them will land for a next career.

After ShaAnn Danelson announced her intentions to pursue her a career in physical therapy, her former teammate Sydney Hansen will be joining her in the workforce with the chance to potentially cross paths.

Hansen will return to Gillette College in Wyoming as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. As Sydney Prather, she played for the Pronghorns during the 2019-2020 season and helped guide them to a (28-5) record and a ranking of No. 21 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). While in Gillette, she averaged 12.7 points a game while shooting almost 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point land.

After transferring to Northern, she enjoyed a three-year career as a role player, setting the tone on defense and playing gritty basketball. She appeared in 71 games for the Skylights, including 14 starts.

Congratulations to former MSU-Northern Skylight Sydney Hansen on becoming the newest women’s assistant basketball coach at Gillette College.
