FTC Warns of Student Loan Scams

(Washington D.C.) – As colleges and universities across the country are preparing to open their doors for the 2025-26 school year, the Federal Trade Commission has shared some tips on how to avoid student loan scams.

The FTC says to keep scammers from stealing your money and identity students should not rely on government logos or seals to decide what might be real. Students also should never buy promises of special access, pay an upfront fee, and never share their FSA ID.
