FWP looking to purchase land in Winifred

(Great Falls) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is proposing to purchase and manage a conservation easement on 1,080 acres north of Winifred, MT.

Proposed as the “Stafford Ferry Conservation Easement”, the easement would protect and conserve mixed sagebrush-grassland habitat adjoining the Missouri River Breaks in deer/elk hunting districts 417 and 426.

Additionally, the easement would provide free public asses for hunters and recreational pursuits.

FWP is seeking public comment for the proposed easement from February 19th – March 6th with a pubic informational meeting scheduled on February 27th at 6pm in the BLM office in Lewistown.
