HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Last week, Governor Greg Gianforte announced the funding for 14 forest management projects across Montana.
A press release says the projects will reduce wildfire risks, improve forest health and wildlife habitat, and support local economies with good-paying jobs in the forest industry.
Local projects being funded include:
- The Bear Gulch Project on the Fort Belknap Reservation
- The Pines Recreation Area Cross Boundary Project in Valley County
Projects range in size from 100 to 1,000 acres and correspond with the Montana Forest Action Plan.
The state has committed $4.5 million for the projects and has received $500,000 in grant funding from the USDA Forest Service.
