Gianforte Approves Commission’s Recommendations for ARPA Funds

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has approved the recommendations from the state’s ARPA Infrastructure Advisory Commission to allocate a total of $121 million to fund the top 73-ranked competitive grant projects.

Each grant has a cap of $2 million.

Projects in our area that will receive funding are:

  • Ranked No. 8 (tie): A Winifred Wastewater Treatment and Discharge project that requested $3.1 million (Project type is clean water)
  • No. 21: A Winnett Wastewater System Retrofit project that requested $1 million (clean water)
  • No. 30 (tie): A Lewistown Wastewater System Improvements project that requested $948,000 (Clean Water)
  • No. 30 (tie): A Harlem Water System Improvements project that requested $3.2 million (drinking water)
  • No. 46: A Chester Wastewater System Improvements project that requested $5.84 million (clean water)
  • No. 47: A Shelby Water System Improvements project that is requested $3.97 million (drinking water)
  • No. 50: A Saco Wastewater System Improvements project that requested $1.49 million (clean water)
  • No. 55: A Shelby Stormwater System Improvements and Wastewater Sludge Dewatering project that requested $1.87 million (clean water)

In addition, ARPA Water and Sewer Minimum Allocation Grants totaling $5.8 million will be awarded to 13 eligible projects.

Local projects in our area receiving a portion of these funds include:

  • Two grants for the Big Sandy Stormwater System Project: one requested $100,000 and the other requested $175,000 (clean water)
  • A Water Line Project for Geraldine which requested $250,000 (drinking water)
  • A Water System Improvements Project for Fort Benton which requested $150,000 (drinking water)
  • A Water and Sewer District Wastewater System Improvements Project for Roy which requested $500,000 (drinking water)
  • A Hingham Wastewater System Improvements Project which requested $150,000 (clean water)

Applications for these minimum allocation grants are not competitive and will continue to be accepted through the end of 2022.
