HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Earlier this month, Five Box Elder residents, including two children, tragically died in a car accident, leaving behind only one immediate family member.
Ten-year-old Wynter Parker of Rocky Boy lost his mother, father, sister, brother and uncle in the accident.
Due to this unimaginable situation, family member Jordan Arca said she decided to set up a fundraiser for Wynter so he can have the opportunity to pursue his education.
“I started the GoFundMe for Wynter mainly to start a college fund. I know that education was super important to Rokki (Wynter’s mother) she did get her degree at Montana Tech. Wynter’s grandparents, Rokki’s parents, also pushed all their kids to pursue their education and I know that’s something that she would want for him to continue doing. I just didn’t want him to have that be a reason to be discouraged that there are any financial barriers between him and whatever dream school he wants to go to.”
Wynter is currently staying with grandparents and Arca said they all are beyond grateful for the donations they’ve received thus far.
“I set the amount at $20,000 and my goal was just to really maybe reach half of that. I didn’t really expect it to go as much as it did and do as well as it’s doing, but everyone who has donated I know that he wanted to say thank you to.”
Moving forward, Arca is asking the community to keep Wynter and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
“At this time, just keep Wynter in your thoughts and give him a lot of prayers because I think he’s really the one that we all are worried about. This is going to affect him for a very long time. Just keep sending out your thoughts and prayers to the entire family.”
As of Saturday morning, the GoFundMe campaign had raised over $20,000.
