HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Steve Bullock paid a visit to Rocky Boy Reservation Friday, May 29 as they conducted COVID-19 surveillance testing.
Bullock said together with the Chippewa Cree Tribe they are saving lives and they plan to complete between 1,500 and 2,000 tests at the event which will bring comfort to everyone involved.
“It gives communities comfort, it gives individuals comfort and it shows what we can all do when we come together with a shared aim of trying to protect our peoples.”
Chippewa Cree Business Committee Chairman Harlan Baker said a lot of people showed up for the event and though they already have a very close-knit community, he’s positive this event has brought them even closer together.
“We’re having a good turn out. I think we have 1,200 people tested currently. As you can see the traffic is still backing up, so we’re only supposed to go till 3 p.m. today but I think we might go past that. Yeah we’re a close-knit community and this has made it an even closer community. Everyone is sticking together and that’s a good thing.”
The Chippewa Cree Tribe Business Committee is currently looking into possibly holding another COVID-19 surveillance testing drive-in next month.
