HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has provided the public with a readout from a DNRC fire briefing he received Tuesday morning.
As of Tuesday morning, there were 12 active large fires in the state.
The current top priority is the Haystack Fire between Butte and Basin, which is currently at 10,300 acres with eight percent containment.
This calendar year, there have been over 2,400 fire starts in Montana, which have burned over 886,000 acres. 53 residences have been lost to fires this year in Montana, including two last week due to the Haystack Fire.
