HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has provided the public with a readout from a DNRC fire briefing he received Wednesday morning.
As of 8 AM Wednesday, there are 15 active large fire incidents in Montana. This calendar year, there have been over 2,310 fire starts in Montana, which have burned a total of over 871,000 acres.
Approximately 51 residences have been lost this year to fires in the state.
The largest active fire is the Woods Creek Fire in the Big Belt Mountains, which is 55,000 acres and 90 percent contained.
The highest priority fire is the Trail Creek Fire west of Wisdom, which is at 51,800 acres and 29 percent containment.
