HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Tuesday, the Hill County Commissioners told the Great Northern Fair Board during their meeting that they cannot proceed with hiring a fair board manager as an independent contractor.
Commissioner Diane McLean says that the county legal team decided that the managers position doesn’t meet the standards set for an independent contractor. She says there are no categories that would fit a fair manager’s position outlined for independent contractors.
McLean says they will try to move forward with the manager being an employee of the county, rather than an independent contractor, like in the past. She says they plan on holding a special meeting to address this issue, but a date has not yet been set.
