HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board has accepted applications from at least two people still interested in managing the fairgrounds and hopes to select a new manager next week. Board Chairman Tyler Smith says the Fair Manager position is still a little different than it was in the past.
“It is full-time May, June, July, and August, and then three-quarter time the rest of the time. And through different interpretations of the law, then we will get away from some of the overtime constraints and it will essentially be a salaried position.”
Smith says that they are working on the Fairgrounds right now to make sure everything is ready in time for the Fair.
“We’re in about the halfway point of getting the office moved into the old museum. We tore down some trees and put a sidewalk out in front of there. We’re going to have the office in the old museum. There will be a ticket booth that will be over by the Commercial Building.”
Smith says that despite their difficulties with hiring a manager, all the events at the Fair have been set and they will even have some free acts this year.
