Grizz Softball Adds Pitchers from Transfer portal.

(Missoula) – After finishing the 2025 softball season back in May, University of Montana softball head coach Stef Ewing, adds depth in the transfer portal.

The Grizz finished the season 8-42, and coach Ewing new that signing a couple of pitchers from the transfer portal was a top priority. Ewing swung and hit on two decorated pictures to join the Griz next spring.

Kaiana Kong, a native of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, pitched has 34 games for Western Washington going 31-3. In two seasons with Vikings Kong had a 1.42 ERA. Kong’s performance on the mound at Western Washington helped the Vikings make consecutive appearances to the Division II Women’s College World Series. In her first season as a Viking, Kong was named an honorable mention all-American. She followed up a tremendous freshman season by reaching a third-team all-American as a sophomore in the 2025 season. She joins the Grizz with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Carah Sweet, of Pasco, Washington had a 4.27 ERA as a freshman for the Pioneers of Sacred Heart. In her last five appearances to the plate as a Pioneer Sweet only allowed two earned runs in 13 2/3 innings. Sweet joins the Grizz with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
