Hard-sided Camping Restrictions at Rattin and Sheridan Campgrounds

(Red Lodge) – On August 1st only hard-sided campers will be allowed at the Rattin and Sheridan Campgrounds near Red Lodge by order of the Forest Service.

This restriction is due to the amount of grizzly bear activity in both Rattin and Sheridan campgrounds. One known grizzly bear in question has two young cubs with her and has been seen frequenting the area for food.

The forest service also advises people to remember to use appropriate storage of attractants these include hard-sided vehicles or trailers, approved bear resistant containers or approved products, and hanging food at least 10 feet above ground and 4 feet away form a tree or pole.
