HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Health Department says that Montana State University-Northern researchers and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks have confirmed the presence of harmful algal blooms (HABs) in Beaver Creek Reservoir and Bearpaw Lake.
Harmful algal blooms are capable of producing toxins that can make humans and animals sick, and have been known to cause death in animals.
Researchers measured toxins at levels that pose health risks at Beaver Creek Reservoir, also known as First Lake.
Harmful algal blooms were confirmed last month in Bailey Reservoir, located south of Kremlin.
Conditions may change at anytime on these reservoirs.
Avoid contact and ingestion of water from these reservoirs, and take care to keep children, pets and animals away from the water.
