HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – At 11 AM on Monday, Havre residents gathered on the lawn of the Hill County Courthouse for the annual Memorial Day services.
A local Boy Scout troop posted the colors and Dena Rudio sang the National Anthem. The American Legion read the names of the deceased, followed by a 21-gun salute.
American Legion Commander Terry Roemmich says they held an extra ceremony this year.
“It went very well. We actually did something different this year. We added a special flag ceremony for our deceased veteran. So, that was a really nice gesture. That was the extra raising and lowering.”
After the services at the Courthouse, they continued at the Elks Lodge with the empty chair ceremony and a speech by Elks Lodge Past Exalted Ruler Bob Nieuwenhuyse, followed by a luncheon.
