Havre City Council Reaffirmed Participation in Bear Paw Development

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s City Council met Monday night in City Hall for their regular meeting.

The Council passed a resolution to affirm their active participation in the Bear Paw Economic Development District. As part of the resolution, the City contributes $21,250 per year to join Bear Paw Development.

Next, the Council approved Triangle Communication’s request to amend their lease to include more land to the west. T-Mobile wants to share Triangle’s tower at that location and the land would be for a new building.

The Ordinance Committee also scheduled their next meeting to take place after the next City Council meeting in two weeks. They will continue their discussions on the Vacant Property Registration Ordinance, temporary signage in town, and how to handle future Council vacancies.

After the meeting, Councilmember Lindsay Ratliff asked Mayor Tim Solomon about zoning in town related to Airbnb’s. Ratliff says she was asked what the steps were to getting an Airbnb set up in Havre. Solomon said that some areas of town, like those zoned for apartments, already allow Airbnb’s to operate. Other residential areas do not. Solomon said the next step is up to the individuals looking to set up an Airbnb, whether they want to try to rezone the area or change an ordinance.
