(Havre) – In late 2025 the Havre City Council approved a TIF district for the community. Mayor Wade Bitz explains what a TIF District is, and the boundaries of the one created in 2025.
“A TIF District is a Tax Increment Finance district, and it is a way for us to capture money for improvements to our district which generally speaking is the downtown core plus each side of that on highway 2.”
Montana Law dictates that TIF Districts have a governing board. The City of Havre will be holding a TIF Governance presentation at the July 6th Havre City Council Meeting.
