HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre man arrested last month after allegedly driving the wrong way on US Highway 2 and endangering several vehicles has been arraigned in Hill County District Court.
Chaska Nakota Earthboy, 32, pleaded not guilty to felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor DUI on Monday.
Court documents state that at 10:33 PM on November 1st, Blaine County Dispatch informed Hill County Dispatch of a silver Dodge car driving in the wrong lane westbound on US-2. The Dodge had apparently nearly hit a semi.
Officers encountered the Dodge as it entered Havre City limits. Dispatch received a report that a car was forced off the road near E-1 towing by the Dodge, which was still in the wrong lane.
Earthboy did not stop when authorities first tried to catch the vehicle, with Earthboy instead jumping a curb and driving on the sidewalk before coming to a stop at the 1500 block of US-2.
When a Havre Police Officer confronted Earthboy, he could detect “an overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath.”
Earthboy was walking in a staggered manner with red and watery eyes and told the Officer he had “too much” to drink.
Earthboy refused a breath test and was arrested and transported to the Hill County Detention Center.
No future court dates have been set.
Earthboy was released from the Hill County Detention Center on his own recognizance, with conditions, on November 12th.
