HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The City of Havre will be suspending an ordinance through May, that requires people to bundle cleared brush and branches in to four-foot lengths before the Public Works Department will collect it and run it through their brush chipper.
Public Works Director Dave Peterson says they will try to make a few rounds throughout Havre in May to hopefully pick up all the brush.
“For the month of May, what we’re asking everybody to do is, if you’ve got brush out there you can put it on your boulevards, put it, you know, in the alley, as long as you’re not blocking any driveways, any access to garbage cans, any neighbors property. You need to stick it on your own property and we are sending the truck around.”
Peterson says that people will have to follow the ordinance starting in June if they want the city to remove brush.
“After the 31st of May, then anybody that’s doing any branch trimming needs to follow the ordinance. They need to bundle them into 4 foot lengths. Stick them next to the can, or they can haul them to the landfill themselves and dispose of them out there.”
Peterson says they won’t be collecting tree roots or logs. If branches are being left by others on your property, call Havre’s Public Works Department at 265-4941.
