Havre Police Determine Threatening Email Not Credible

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Emails threatening to bomb businesses that were received in Havre on Thursday were determined to be a hoax. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says that Office Equipment reported the first email demanding $20,000 in Bitcoin be transferred, or they would detonate the device. About an hour later, MSU-Northern reported a similar email.

“As we learned that this is going on nationwide, we decided that it was more of a hoax and it was happening throughout Montana and throughout quite a few other states, throughout the nation as well. At that time, we determined that it was not a credible threat at all.”

Matosich says that if anyone else receives a similar email, don’t delete it and call the Havre Police Department at 265-4361.
