HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s School Board of Trustees held their regular meeting Tuesday at Havre Middle School. Superintendent of Schools Andy Carlson says they continued their association with the Montana School Boards Association and with the Montana High School Association. They also made minor changes to their handbooks.
“On the school side of things, it’s our handbook time. So, we did all of our elementary, middle school, and high school handbooks. Not a lot of changes in there. There were a few pieces to update for sure. We wanted our emergency protocol in there. That’s an item we haven’t in the past. So, now parents can go on, find out exactly what we’re going to do in each situation.”
Carlson says they also accepted a bus bid.
“The initial bus bid we put out, we actually rejected it. We’re looking for a very specific bus. At the bus garage, our mechanic really wanted to move towards, rather than a diesel engine, a regular gas engine and has done quite a bit of work in there. We’re also buying a special education bus, and so it’s pretty specific what we wanted in there, as far as safety devices.”
While the school buildings are pretty quiet during the summer, they still have summer school and driver’s education.
