HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre School Board of Trustees met for their regular meeting Tuesday night and discussed the spring enrollment numbers. Superintendent of Schools Andy Carlson says that the enrollment drop that they usually see from fall to spring was smaller than they expected.
“On the elementary side, overall was about 14 students and on the high school side, it was 21 students. I guess that’s the positive. You know, honestly, it’s something we certainly want to look at. Again, we’re over 487 students at Havre High and K-8 we’re at 1,215.”
Carlson says they did call for elections, but they will only be held if there are more than two candidates running.
“There are two trustee seats. They are both elementary and high school. We’re going to do an all-mail ballot this year. With just the diminishing numbers of people that walk in and vote, we’re going to an all-mail ballot. If we only have two people apply, or if we have fewer than two people apply, we won’t run that election. Unless we are going to run a levy, which at this point, we really don’t know.”
Carlson says there are two seats available on the School Board this year, with the election to be held in May. He says they will also be renovating the bathrooms at Havre High this summer.
