HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Fiscal Year 2019 ended for the U.S. Border Patrol on September 30th, and the Havre Sector saw a 64 percent arrest increase compared to Fiscal Year 2018.
A press release says the Havre Sector patrols 456 miles of the U.S./Canada border. This area consists of six stations, St. Mary, Sweetgrass, Havre, Malta, Scobey, and Plentywood, employing over 150 agents in communities across Montana.
Overall, arrests for the Border Patrol as a whole significantly increased from over 404,000 in Fiscal Year ’18, to over 859,000 in Fiscal Year ’19. While marijuana seizures were down, hard narcotics saw a significant increase from the previous year.
