HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s Dog Park Club is working on fundraising events and increasing membership after they were granted land from the City Council two months ago. Treasurer Juanita Sanborn says that they are short of their first fundraising goal by about $5,000. President Chad Stewart says would allow them to put a fence on the property and let people and dogs use the area this summer.
“Right now we’re just in planning, development, and fundraising stage for the park. It would be awesome if we can get some fence up this spring. I’d be happy to see that happen and that’s kind of the direction we’re going.”
Sanborn says that they haven’t set a fundraising goal for their final project, but they have an idea of what they want it to look like.
“But we do know that it’s going to look like there will be an area for large dogs, an area for small dogs, separate gates. And we hope to have area’s for seating, for some people that might want to sit while they’re watching their dogs.”
They meet on the third Tuesday of every month and their next meeting will be on May 21st at 6 PM in the HRDC Board Room.
