HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – After hosting meetings to gather public comments, Hill County has decided not to pursue any federal BUILD Grants this year. Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson says there just isn’t enough time to get everything together before the July deadline.
Peterson says that there’s not enough time for them to secure a planning grant, but they will try again next year. Even with an extra year to plan, Peterson fears their grant application could still be delayed.
The BUILD Grant would help the county repair local infrastructure and Peterson was hoping it could help lay fresh gravel on county roads, repair paved roads in the small communities, and help fix Old Post Road and Taylor Road.
