Hill County Commission Approves Resolutions, Grant Application

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission convened on Thursday morning for their weekly business meeting and unanimously approved three resolutions that amended budgets.

The first resolution allowed the Council on Aging to allocate an additional $82,800 that they received in CARES Act funding into their budget for their Meals on Wheels Program.

The second resolution was for the Sheriff’s Office to be able to receive $3,925 for a Department of Justice Bullet Proof Vest Partnership Program Grant. This goes into the county’s general fund, and the county is providing a match.

The third resolution was for the Clerk and Recorder to add an additional $125,787 into the election budget thanks to funds received through the Center for Tech and Civic Life. These funds are for the budget for the previous fiscal year, with around $65,000 going towards contract services and around $61,000 going towards machines and equipment.

The Commission also approved authorizing Bear Paw Development to send in a planning grant to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) for a proposed project meant to address erosion below the dam spillway at Beaver Creek Park. The Commission is hoping to receive $15,000 in funding through the DNRC’s Renewable Resource Grant and Loan Program that would be used to pay engineers to design the project.
