HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Democrats Central Committee has elected Lindsey Ratliff as their new chair.
According to a press release, Ratliff was elected during their special convention on January 30th.
Ratliff is a teacher at Havre High School and was recently re-elected to the Havre City Council.
The chair was previously Krystal Steinmetz, who recently resigned due to other commitments.
Prior to Steinmetz being elected chair last February, Jacob Bachmeier served in that role. Bachmeier resigned due to other commitments and has since moved to Great Falls, where he is running to represent Senate District 12 in the State Legislature.
In statements included in the press release, Ratliff said she is honored to serve as the chair, and Steinmetz said she is thrilled to see her take the helm.
The Democrats have yet to see a candidate file for House District 28, a position which represents Havre and is currently held by Republican Ed Hill, who has filed for re-election. Ratliff said that the race will be “an uphill battle” for Democrats, she believes that it presents “a great opportunity to recruit and elect some great common-sense local Democrats with Hi-Line values.”
Also at the January 30th meeting, the Democrats Central Committee re-elected Cullen Hinkle as Vice Chair, Mia Nepoose as Secretary, and Scott Strobel as Treasurer.
