HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Health Board convened virtually on Friday afternoon to provide their bi-weekly COVID-19 update.
No significant update on Hill County COVID-19 vaccination numbers was provided, with the amount of local residents having been fully vaccinated remaining at around 35 percent, as was stated at Wednesday’s quarterly Health Board meeting.
Hill County has been notified of three COVID-19 cases of local residents of variants of concern, bringing the total number of confirmed variant cases in Hill County to four. All have since recovered, and were one of two variants that originated in California (1 case of B.1.427, 3 cases of B.1.429).
According to the CDC, these strains are about 20 percent more transmissible and have a “significant reduction in neutralization by some, but not all, EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) monoclonal antibody treatments.”
Hill County’s case numbers remain at low levels, with six active cases and one active hospitalization as of Thursday evening. Health Officer Kim Berg urges the public to continue following public health guidelines in order to keep case numbers low.
