(Havre) The Hill County Health Department says it confirmed one case of a bat testing positive for rabies.
While the bat had no known human exposure, the Health Department still warned the public to be safe with wild animals. Never touch a wild animal, especially a skunk or a bat, which are the most common carriers of rabies.
If you have been bitten by a wild animal, make a trip to the emergency room. If the animal was rabid, there are treatments that can be administered post-bite, which have a 100% success rate in preventing rabies infection.
