HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Hill County man has been given a five year suspended sentence with the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a felony and admitting he transferred illegal drugs in prison.
Shawn Keith Rosette was sentenced on Monday by Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz in Hill County District Court after pleading guilty to the felony of transferring illegal articles.
As per the plea agreement, the charges of felony criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, solicitation to commit criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, and solicitation to commit transferring illegal articles were dismissed.
Affidavits filed in the case allege that on July 24th, and August 1st, 2020, a Hill County Detention Center Officer inspected Rosette’s incoming mail and found Suboxone, a schedule II dangerous drug, attached to the back of stamps.
The evidence was further inspected by the Tri-Agency Task Force, which found that the envelopes were mailed by Crystal Parker, who also goes by the name Crystal Rosette.
In an interview with the Tri-Agency task force, Rosette admitted to telling Parker to send the drugs in the letters, and that he had distributed them to five different inmates in exchange for money or phone cards.
The sentence will run consecutive to the two other sentences that he has also been given recently. This includes a five year sentence in the Department of Corrections, all suspended, for felony conspiracy for criminal distribution of dangerous drugs; and a three year sentence in the DOC, none suspended, after having his suspended sentence for felony failure to register as a sexual or violent offender revoked.
Parker, meanwhile, is facing the felonies of attempted criminal distribution of dangerous drugs and attempted transferring of illegal articles. She did not appear at her scheduled arraignment earlier this week.
