HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Hill County’s Rural Fire District 1 Board held a meeting on Thursday morning in the County Courthouse.
With three new members recently appointed to the overhauled Board, they began the meeting with a reorganization. The Board voted for Steven Jamruszka to be the new Chair, while Susann Tharp was approved as the Board’s Secretary.
Rural Fire District 1 is essentially a ring around Havre in which the Havre Fire Department provides for fire protection.
The City of Havre has stated their intent to modify their agreement with the District.
With that in mind, the Board said on Thursday that they will begin the discussion process with the city to form a modified agreement.
Also at the meeting, the Board discussed a request by Clyde R. Thomas to alter the boundaries of the District to remove his parcel of land, which sits on the outer boundary by Beaver Creek. Thomas intends to allow the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department to build a structure for storing equipment and create a classroom.
This request has to wait for the 30 day public comment period to expire before the Board can take any action.
The other item discussed at the meeting was the ongoing process of selling the bus garage to North Central Montana Transit.
Before the meeting adjourned, the Board has established a regular meeting schedule. They will meet the second Tuesday of every month at 11 AM at the Timmons Room at the Hill County Courthouse.
