Hill County Sheriff’s Office Asks for Help Identifying Man Impersonating Police Officer

BOX ELDER, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a man impersonating a police officer.

According to a press release, early on Friday morning a Box Elder resident reported an unknown male knocking on their residence. The man identified himself as a police officer and tried to get the resident to open the door, but fled the scene and began yelling when the resident turned on their porch light.

The Hill County Sheriff’s Office has determined the man was not a law enforcement officer, but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a dark-haired male, approximately 6-feet tall with an average build, wearing a black sweatshirt, dark baseball cap, and dark pants.

The public is encouraged to identify anyone at their residence prior to opening the door. Law enforcement officers can be identified by a badge and departmental identification.
