FORT ASSINIBOINE, Mont. (NMB) – Hundreds of people turned out to the Northern Agricultural Research Center’s (NARC) Annual Field Day this past Tuesday at Fort Assiniboine.
NARC Superintendent Darrin Boss says over 200 people attended the Field Day, which featured tours of the grounds and an awards dinner.
“For a day that was 96 or 98 (degrees), or whatever thermometer you believe, it was outstanding turnout. These people hung with us, I hope they learned a great deal. This was a great year.”
Among those in attendance included State Senators Mike Lang (R-Malta) and Russ Tempel (R-Chester), as well as representatives from the offices of U.S. Senators Steve Daines (R) and Jon Tester (D).
“When they show up, that means they realize what agriculture does to the economy in Montana and they want it here,” Boss says.
During the dinner, the Havre Ag Chamber Committee presented several awards. Marvin Cross and Patty Nissen-Cross were presented the Outstanding Ag Leader Award, while Clyde, Brandy and Duke Thomas were presented with the Outstanding Ag Advocate Award.
Also, MSU-Northern students Sean Manning and Brooke Morris were awarded $1,000 scholarships. Both are majoring in Ag Operations Technology.
