YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Mont. (NMB) – Investigators have determined that a grizzly bear that mauled a man to death near West Yellowstone on April 15th was likely guarding a moose carcass.
Carl Mock of West Yellowstone was attacked by the bear and died a few days later at a hospital.
Wildlife investigators shot and killed the bear when it charged them when they returned to the scene one day after the incident.
According to the report, the bear was aggressively guarding the moose carcass after it got into a fight with another grizzly bear.
