The MSU-Northern Lights basketball team (7-5) is back home to take on Ambrose University and Lakeland College at the Armory Gym. New Media Broadcasters caught up with Lights’ coach Shawn Huse and he gave the listeners an update on how his team is coming along during this time off that they’ve had.
“We’ve had some time to heal up and get through out treatment,” Huse said. “I have to believe our guys are close. As high-level student athletes, you have that personality where you want to take charge of every situation and there’s always got to be something that you can do. This is one that is really out of our hands.”
The Lights will be down three starters for their weekend series, but Huse wants the team to focus on what they can do inside the club, which is coexist with the different players that will be on the floor.
“We’re preparing for those teams and doing what we do in a short amount of time,” Huse said. “I just hope that we’ve been through the worst of it (health wise) and we’re moving on now.”
“It’s nothing but up from here,” Huse continued. “That’s what I want to see this week is us really focusing on playing good Northern basketball and getting used to new lineups.”
The Lights will tip off with the Lions around 4pm on Thursday and around 2pm on Saturday with the Rustlers. Those games can be heard on KPQX-92.5FM with Noah Friedman calling the action.
