The MSU-Northern Lights basketball program (4-1) has another road trip coming up this weekend. The team will head to Helena for the Comfort Suites Classic. Their opponents will be Corban University (Oregon) and Embry Riddle University (Arizona). The Lights have played more games than both of their opponents combined, five versus three.
Lights coach Shawn Huse said the squad has been preparing to take on their competition, but put an emphasis on the student part of being a student-athlete.
“As coaches, we’ve started in on film,” Huse said. “It’s a quick turnaround for us, but we’ve talked about it a lot. (We’re) doing everything we can to stay on top of school work (and) stay on top of our preparation.”
Huse also touched on the mentality the team will have because of returning from their California road trip on Tuesday night only to go back out on the road less than 72 hours later.
“We’re not taking too big of a breath yet,” Huse said. “We’ll be ready to go again because they’re not going to change the tip-off times for us. We’ll get back after it on Friday and Saturday.
Northern plays at 5:30pm both days of the Comfort Suites Classic in Helena.
