The MSU-Northern Lights basketball team has unveiled their tentative schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The season will kick off with four straight home games, beginning with a contest on Thursday, October 27th at 7:30 PM against King’s University of Alberta.
On November 3rd and 4th, the Lights will host Northwest Indian College, and on November 10th, they will host Augustana University of Alberta. Tip times for these games has not been announced.
The first conference game of the season will be in Great Falls at the University of Providence at 7 PM on December 1st. The home conference opener is December 3rd at 4 PM against Carroll College.
After that, the Lights will resume their non-conference schedule, with the Frontier conference season resuming on January 5th with a 7 PM home game against Rocky Mountain College.
Lights Head Coach Shawn Huse released the following statement regarding the schedule:
Once again we have a good variety of teams and game sites slated for next year, in terms of our schedule and how it looks to-date. With the graduation of two big playmakers, I like how next year’s competition is layed out. We need quality game experience as our 2022-23 mixed group of seasoned returners and quality newcomers gradually progress and gel. Our non-conference contests will be good challenges for us as we move into the always-tough Frontier Conference. I feel like this schedule meets that need for us. Although it is mid-summer right now, we will be on the court once again before we know it – I like that the guys can look at this and start thinking a little earlier than usual about game dates, and about the opposition they are preparing for in their off-season workouts.
Huse said there may be a few small tweaks to the non-conference schedule, but other than that, everything is set.
