Little Shell Tribe Prepares for First Census in Meeting with Governor Steve Bullock

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians leaders prepared for their first census in a meeting with Governor Steve Bullock in Great Falls Thursday, Feb. 27 at tribal headquarters.

The 2020 census will grant the tribe access to health care, education, community planning and federal dollars.

In the press release, Little Shell Tribe Chairman Gerald Gray said, “The Census for the Little Shell is extremely important due to the fact that all federal funding depends on Census data…So, I encourage all Little Shell members to fill out the Census and be counted.”

Little Shell Tribe was federally recognized last year, and this next step will provide accurate allocation of federal resources for tribe members.
