Lodgepole Woman Killed in Crash on Fort Belknap Reservation

BLAINE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A 60-year-old Lodgepole woman was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Fort Belknap Reservation on Saturday evening.

Blaine County Sheriff/Coroner John Colby has identified the victim as Laurie Main.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Erickson says the crash occurred at about 8 PM on Saturday, when the woman was driving a GMC pickup westbound on Beaver Creek Road.

The vehicle drifted off the right side, overcorrected, entered the westbound ditch again, and then tripped in soft dirt, causing it to roll one time.

The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Speed and alcohol are suspected factors.

The paved road, which had a fresh chip seal applied recently, was bare and dry.

Along with MHP, the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Belknap Tribal Police also responded to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by MHP.
