Lower Holter Lake to Reopen Friday Evening

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has announced that the lower end of Holter Lake near Helena is reopening for recreational boating and other uses as of 8 PM on Friday, August 6th.

The Lake had been closed to allow fire-fighting resources access to the water.

The fire resources have beem supporting fire-fighting efforts on the Harris Mountain Fire, southeast of Cascade, but the planes are being re-assigned to a different fire, so the closure is no longer needed.

However, fire behavior can change quickly, so recreationists should be aware that closures could be ordered again in the future with short notice.

Questions can be directed to the Region 4 office at 454-5840 or 788-1174.
