(Missoula) – The United States Attorney office says a Kalispell man accused of threatening to kill Montana United States Senator Jon Tester in call to his office, admitted to the threat charges last week.
Kevin Patrick Smith, 46, pleaded guilty to threats to murder a United States Senator. Smith faces a maximum of ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
The government alleged in court documents that on January 30th of this year, Smith made numerous threatening phone calls to Senator Tester by leaving voicemails at his field office in Kalispell.
Sentencing for Smith was set for August 24th before US District Judge Dana L. Christensen, and Smith was detained pending further proceedings.
