HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in October 2018 has pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
Jaden Peet was initially charged with two counts of felony sexual intercourse without consent in November 2018. Those charges were amended in a January 23, 2020 filing, with one of the counts changing to felony sexual assault.
Peet pleaded guilty to the count of sexual assault on Monday in Hill County District Court after signing a plea agreement earlier this month. The plea agreement asks for a sentence of five years, all suspended. If the Judge agrees to comply with the plea agreement, the count of felony sexual intercourse without consent will be dropped.
An affidavit filed in court states that in the early morning of October 28, 2018, the then 18-year-old Peet raped a 13-year-old girl in Gildford.
Peet initially pleaded not guilty to the two charges of sexual intercourse without consent in November, 2018. He was scheduled to face a jury trial this Wednesday.
The court allowed Peet to remain free until sentencing, as long as he continues to follow the conditions of his release.
The court said sentencing will likely take place sometime in March.
