(Montana) The Montana Farm Bureau Federation is calling for more funding in the fiscal year 2025 to suppress grasshoppers.
The MFBF says that during meetings with Montana Congressional leaders in Washington, they discussed that the 550,000 acres that were treated by the USDA’s Grasshopper Suppression Program could have been more had the program received more funding.
Economist for the American Farm Bureau Daniel Much said in a press release that conservative estimates of losses due to grasshopper infestations are at 318 million dollars.
