(MFU) The Montana Farmers Union have announced they’ll be making a trio of fair appearances with two being in the New Media Broadcasters listening area.
On August 9th from 11 am to 7pm, the MFU will be at the Northeast Montana Fair in Glasgow, and they’ll be at the Chouteau County fair on August 17th during the same time frame.
The purpose of these appearances is to educate the public on the farmers share of each dollar spent on food in the United States.
According to the USDA, off-farm costs including marketing, processing, distribution, and retailing account for more than 80 cents of every food dollar spent in the U.S., meaning farmers only receive roughly 14 cents of every dollar that consumers spend on food.
